DJ Fanclub, Amsterdam Dance Event and Paradiso proudly present the first ‘International Golden Gnome Awards’ – the official opening event for the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) on October 20 2010.Having started as a prank in 1995 to bring back some humour into the increasingly serious and commercial club scene, the Golden Gnome Awards (Gouden Kabouters in Dutch) has grown over the past 15 years into Holland’s top annual awards ceremony for the Dutch dance scene.The self proclaimed “Incredibly Unofficial Oscars for the Club Scene” attracts an impressive crowd of DJs, club owners, producers, musicians and festival organisers who take the winning of the ‘little golden man’ much more seriously than the organisers ever imagined. This annual event has grown into a highlight on the social calendar of many a top Dutch DJ. It’s not merely a prize giving, but an evening full of entertainment, surprise acts, fun & frolics with a healthy dose of irony and satire thrown in.With a list of past winners including world famous names such as Richie Hawtin (2009), Armin van Buuren (2008), Ricardo Villalobos (2005), Audio Bullys (2003), Underworld (2002) and David Guetta (2001), the organization decided it is time to go global.On Wednesday October 20th the first edition of the International Golden Gnome Awards will take place at Paradiso during the Amsterdam Dance Event 2010. The Amsterdam Dance Event is the world’s leading electronic music conference and showcase festival and thus the perfect place for such a ceremony.
