Velcro Hooks have spent the past year shunning any form of internet presence, instead choosing to work towards perfecting their sound that has culminated in the launch of their debut EP Gymnophoria. Gymnophoria.

By combining lo-fi garage and 70s anarchic punk with a myriad of catchy melodies and big riffs, the half Canadian/half Bristolian foursome have managed to create something of a controlled burst of fury that is musically mature, yet delightfully rebellious.

Amalgamating Art Brut's ironic vocals, the raucousness of Les Incompetents and the attitude of The Hives, the boys have restored indie punk circa 2006 (a vintage year) to its former glory. However it is the slither of The Velvet Underground and Pixies that really distinguishes the post-punk foursome from their predecessors, and rightfully hails them as the missing link between old and new that has been a long time coming.

They were definitely worth the wait.
