For the first time in the history of the Static Roots Festival, we are thrilled to introduce a unique addition to our lineup of musical excellence: an author's reading and book signing. This year, we're honored to host Willy Vlautin, acclaimed author and the brilliant songwriter behind The Delines, as he presents his latest work, "The Horse" at the charming "Kino im Walzenlager" cinema located within Zentrum Altenberg.

To set the stage for Willy's reading, Freddy Trujillo, the esteemed bass player from The Delines, will perform a few tracks from his recent album, "Sketch Of A Man" creating the perfect ambiance for an afternoon of storytelling and music.

About "The Horse":

In "The Horse," Willy Vlautin weaves a narrative that resonates with the raw truths of loneliness, regret, and the pursuit of empathy through the eyes of Al Ward, a journeyman musician confronted with the specters of his past. Set against the backdrop of Nevada's vast desert, this novel explores the profound impacts of addiction, the elusive nature of the American dream, and the redemptive power of unexpected companionship.

We will have English copies of "The Horse" available for purchase at the event, alongside German editions of Willy's preceding novels. Following the reading, Willy Vlautin would be happy to sign his books, offering a rare opportunity for personal interaction with one of contemporary literature's most compelling voices.
