For the past five years, Chris Lake has been living the dream. As a DJ he's travelled the globe. As a producer, he's topped industry charts over and over again and as a lover of music, he continues to chase down the freshest beats around.

This year Chris makes his Creamfields debut after performing for numerous Cream events around the world. We caught up with him to find out what to expect from his first set on the "fields.

You're playing at Creamfields this year on the North Stage, excited?

YES! I've never been to Creamfields, so I'll be popping my Creamfields cherry so to speak, which is nuts considering how many times I've played for Cream events in Liverpool and Ibiza over the years.

What should we expect from your set? Will it differ from your usual music because its outdoors?

My approach is pretty similar to the clubs, just a little bit higher intensity that's all. Creamfields is an event I've wanted to do for years though, so expect me to go all guns blazing :)

Will you be there for the day to check out some of the other artists?

I plan to get there early on the Sunday and have a wander around, and check out random acts. I've not even studied the lineup yet though to see who I want to check out. I'll do it in the car on the way up!

What's your favourite festival memory?

Homelands Scotland 2000, hearing Leftfield drop Phat Planet. I lost my mind! Then I wandered into the Drum and Bass area and learnt how to dance like an absolute idiot to Ronnie Size. I'm quite the expert now.

How do you think dance music has changed since the launch of Creamfields 13 years ago?

Well, it' just seems to get more and more popular as the years go on, and now it's just everywhere. It's all over radio, pop music, adverts, linked with fashion, got an amazing coverage online. If you love dance music, there's plenty to get your teeth into, and damn, there are some unbelievable acts out there right now. Far more choice than there was years ago I think

What are your festival essentials?

Well you're not asking the most organised person in this department you know. I just went to Glastonbury this year in white trainers!

Chris Lake performs on the South Stage on Sunday 28th August 2011
