Band-Search

We've teamed up with our friends at the Daily Record and Sunday Mail to offer one music act the chance to play this year's RockNess and the response has been overwhelming. Submissions of songs for the prestigious main stage slot in front of thousands at Dores came flooding in. Now as we countdown to the festival, today and every day in the run up to 7th June, The Daily Record will post a video of some of the acts in the running.

Radio 1's Ally McCrae said: "It is brilliant to see how many quality acts the competition has attracted, including loads I've featured on Radio 1 recently.

The Daily Record & Sunday Mail's Music Editor, John Dingwall, added: "The response to the RockNess competition for a chance to play the main stage has been phenomenal. Not only has there been a record number of entries this year, but the standard has been through the roof.

"The judges, including RockNess Director Jim King, Simon Jones of AEG Live, Daily Record Music Editor John Dingwall, Radio 1's Ally McCrae, Northsound 1's Greigsy and Clyde One FM's Romeo are are currently listening to the hundreds of entries to select a shortlist.

Kicking off the countdown is a double whammy of two featured acts: Fridge Magnets and Holy Esque.
Be sure to check back online at the Daily Record tomorrow for another brilliant new band or singer songwriter.

Fridge Magnets
Championed by the likes of Huw Stephens, Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw, the Scottish four-piece electro-indie rockers have already featured on Radio 1's In New Music We Trust Playlist, have supported the likes of Calvin Harris and Japanese Popstars and have also had tracks featured on the BBC's Waterloo Road.

Holy Esque
Forming in March 2011, the band hit the ground running with the release of their single Rose. Holy Esque have since toured UK and Europe with The Raveonettes, performed at SXSW 2013 and have just played The Great Escape festival. NME described Holy Esque as "Glasgow's most exciting and inventive new band".
