As is well documented, Roadburn seeks to champion up-and-coming artists, and last year we took this further than ever before. We teamed up with Metal Factory, an international music education institute in Eindhoven to present a brand new band, Alkahest, formed of students studying there. We were so pleased with the results of this collaboration to "rejuvenate heaviness' that we're doing it all over again this year.

So, without further ado we'd like to introduce you to ONEIROPOREIA. The six piece band has been hard at work over the last few months, finding their feet as a group and crafting what will become their debut performance at Roadburn 2024. Drawing influence from the heavier end of psychedelia such as Kairon; IRSE! And Oranssi Pazuzu, ONEIROPOREIA combine this with progressive elements inspired by the likes of Focus and Camel, all delivered with a distinctive post-rock twist.

The band's name is taken from the Greek term for "a journey through dreams" - a central theme of the music they've written together. Taking their own dreams as the foundation from which they have built their songs, they explore the nature of nocturnal healing and otherworldly experiences.

Whilst ONEIROPOREIA were fine tuning their set, Roadburn's artistic director, Walter Hoeijmakers was able to catch a glimpse of what's coming our way. "I was completely overwhelmed," he said, "it's incredible how much they have taken this project to heart and thrown themselves into the music. They very clearly want to learn from each other and as a consequence have propelled each other to great heights. This is much more than an educational project - they have created something special in their own vision and I cannot wait to see it come to fruition."
