It is rare to have the opportunity to put a genuine icon on the bill, but that's what we're doing today with the addition of model, actress, and singer Grace Jones, who will be joined by the tough post-punk act Savages and co-founder of The Libertines, Carl Barât's new band.

At age 13, Grace Jones moved from Jamaica to the United States, and began her career as an actress, model and later singer here. She embraced both disco and cabaret music, and the flamboyant singer quickly became a hit on the US nightclub scene. However, the major breakthrough came with the album "Night Clubbing" whose iconic album cover shows an androgynous Grace Jones wearing a suit, and songs like "Pull Up to the Bumper" and "Demolition Man" showed the singer from a new funky side.

Alongside with her music career Grace Jones was on the cover of Vogue and Elle, and through friendships with Andy Warhol and Karl Lagerfeld and a starring role in "A View To A Kill", she became one of the most important and iconic faces of the 80s. Her style, album covers, videos, and fashion shots have inspired artists like of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, and Annie Lennox, and when she goes on stage with "Slave to Rhythm," "Love is the Drug", "My Jamaican Guy", and "La Vie A Rose", it will without doubt be a performance unlike anything else.

Carl Barât & The Jackals is the name of The Libertines-songwriter's latest band that earlier this year released the album "Let It Reign". Through his collaboration with Pete Doherty, Barât took an important place in rock history as a founding member of the band that most successfully took the baton from The Strokes and got the focus back on guitar rock in the UK, and the new solo album once again shows Barât's ability to write catchy guitar rock that continues the tradition of both The Libertines and Dirty Pretty Things. So it seems fair to expect that the new band's set list will be spiced up with material from the songwriter's now very extensive back catalogue.

Savages was a breath of fresh air on the rock scene, when they debuted in 2013 with the aggressive album "Silence Yourself", drawing on inspiration from post-punk acts like Wire and Siouxsie & the Banshees. Since then, the uncompromising band has recorded an EP with the Japanese psych-punk band Bo Ningen and has written new material that can be both heard this summer at NorthSide and on the album that will be released later this year.

Furthermore, Danish music will be added to the program in the way of Ulige Numre and Broken Twin, who both have a praised ep and debut album behind them. Ulige Numre have just started to warm up to the release of the album "Grand Prix" with hits like "Halvnøgen", which follows hits like "Navn i sne" and "København", while Broken Twin has recently combined her international commitments through the record label Anti (Tom Waits, Wilco) with a sold-out concert at the DR Concert Hall and two awards for this year's critic prize, Steppeulven.

The preliminary line-up for NorthSide in 2015 is as follows: Alt-J, Ben Howard, Broken Twin. Calexico, Carl Barât & The Jackals, De Eneste To, Death Cab for Cutie, Earl Sweatshirt, FKA Twigs, George Ezra, Grace Jones, Incubus, Interpol, Jack Garratt, John Grant, José González, Little Dragon, Matthew E. White, MØ, Placebo, Sam Smith, Savages, Seasick Steve, Spids Nøgenhat, St. Paul & the Broken Bones, The Black Keys, The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Parov Stelar Band, Ulige Numre, Wolf Alice, Wu-Tang Clan og Years & Years.
