The London Intl Ska Festival full line up just got fuller!!! Following the addition of Freddie Notes (Montego Bay) to The London Intl Ska Festival 2012 we have also just confirmed... Two classic Jamaican singers OWEN GREY - the second singer ever to be released by Studio One AND the second singer ever to be released by Island Records... a true "foundation' artist who's career began at the Alpha Boys school in the Jamaican Rhythm & Blues era and continued throughout Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae. World beating tracks include Mille Girl, Midnight Track, On The Beaches, Too Experienced... one of the true greats, who was superb at last years festival... we had to have him back! AJ FRANKLIN from The Chosen Few plus... from the 2 Tone era.. THE EQUATORS (pictured above). Stiff Records recording artists The Equators are reuniting at The London Intl Ska Festival 2012 for their 30th anniversary... Formed in 1977 by the brothers Bailey (Donald, Leo & Rocky), they were discovered by Stiff boss David Robinson, performing with The Beat. Their under-rated debut "HOT' album fused ska-reggae-soul-pop to great effect. And UK scene stalwarts... THE GOLDMASTERS ALL-STARS - UK champions of authentic ska sounds who've recorded 4 albums and worked with JA legends Alton Ellis, Michael Prophet, The Pioneers, Dennis Alcapone, Owen Gray, Winston Francis, Winston Reedy and AJ Franklin. As if that wasn't enough we'll have more to announce next week!! _ |
