LONDON TO CELEBRATE "ALTERNATIVE" QUEEN'S JUBILEE WITH MADCAP CANAL PARTY.

Thousands expected after free event goes viral.

Boats, booze and a seafaring soundsystem.

Her Majesty invited (awaiting reply...)

THE QUEEN'S JUBILLEGAL will take place on June 2nd, a day before official celebrations commence, supported by Glade Festival!

With the re-release of Sex Pistols anthem God Save The Queen this week - infamously performed on the Thames during her Majesty's Silver Jubilee in 1977 - organisers hope to bring a touch of Royal anarchy back to the waterways.

Thousands of revelers are set to descend on Regents Canal with an eclectic selection of Dinghies, rafts, canoes, kayaks, lilos, pedalos, rubber rings... and even a few rubber ducks.

Revellers will meet  in the north west corner of Shoreditch park, near Gainsbourough studios at MIDDAY.  From here they will pump up the dinghies and the pumping party and make their launch onto the canal.

Head of the procession will be the Jubillegal barge, boasting a huge patriotic Queen's head fitted with epic sound system. The structure is being crowd-funded by revelers via Spacehive.com.

Starting around Union Wharf in Islington and floating, paddling and punting down to Broadway Market in Hackney, THE QUEEN'S JUBILLEGAL is set to be a highlight of the capital's Jubilee festivities.

And better still - it's free. The only donations need be a friendly, party spirit, something that floats... and maybe a bit of bunting.

The event is the brainchild of Michael O'Shea, of event organisers Animal Control, after friends complained their Jubilee weekend was shaping up blander than a cucumber sandwich.

Michael said: "If London can party on its streets why not it's canal?

"We at Animal Control see The Queens Jubilee weekend as the perfect time to do some waterborne partying in the name of Her Majesty.

"The Jubillegal will be a floating carnival for the people of London and everyone's invited.

With a sunny four day weekend brewing, we thought it only fair that the fine folk in London Fields should get a taste of what's to come at Glade festival this year.  We'll be at the head of the alternative flotilla, laying down the bass lines with our resident DJ's and some very special guests. Come and join us one and all, as we prove that pirating is still rife on London's waterways.  Don't forget to bring your swimsuit!

Make sure you mark your attendance by heading over to the official Facebook event page.

See you there x
