At the end of 2007 some demos of this British duet formed by Jules De Martino (drums and chorus) and Kattie White (voice, guitar and bass) started to disseminate though internet and, fortunately, they arrived to Nic Harcourt, DJ and musical director of the radio station KCRW who didn´t doubt to start playing the songs in different radio programs. Since then, they got to edit a couple of singles and in 2008 they launched their first album "We Started Nothing" (Columbia/Sony BMG).

Their mix of pop, electronic, punk and dance has been a revelation, getting to the British top lists. The Brit 2009 nominated their debut in the British Breakthrough Artist and Mastercard British Album categories.

But the origin of The Ting Tings comes from private parties/rehearsals the duet organized in The Mill, (Salford) where they improvised they songs alive. The tickets for these parties started to be sold a lot and musical producers started to go there. Jules De Martino tells about it: ?We made parties with me in the drums and Kattie in the guitar. She had just started playing it so it´s like she has learnt on stage. We had pre-recorded loops so the story was about playing music until six in the morning and getting drunk. So, more than a band, The Ting Tings started as an event?.

That´s how their ?We Started Nothing? began to be played and their simple songs, made for dancing and having fun started to get shape. ?With each event the songs were more defined and we started to sound like a real band. That was our way to overcome frustration?. Frustration arisen alter the fiasco due to the disappearance of the record house they had signed for with a previous project called Dear Skeemo which disappointed them very much.

What they didn´t know in those hard moments was what was waiting for them. Once as The Ting Tings and night entertainers they decided to keep on making music for themselves. "We like to define our music as 'pop do-it-yourself' because we do it all ourselves without much masterization nor ornament, everything very intuitive and honest".

The song, ?That´s Not My Name?, composed some time ago with their previous Project, they were nominated for the award conceded by the magazine NME for the best 2008 song ? this magazine discovered them. According to Kattie the song "doesn´t talk about someone forgetting your name but about feeling invisible and impotent and then being able to say go to hell".

Despite this unexpected and sudden success the duet seems to stay attached to earth and Jules say: "When the media started to say that we were the sound of the future and all that bullshit, we thought it wasn´t true, we thought the only way to see if something is interesting is after a while, in four or five years and then looking back. That´s the reason of this title. We don´t start anything".
