Last week Berlin's Privatclub played host to The Great Escape's showcase during First We Take Berlin. Set in the hip district of Kreuzberg, Monophona, opened the show with an entrancing set of electronic acoustic beats before Norwegian artist Sea Change introduced herself. This single-handed electro-pop project filled the room with a strong synth sound and beautiful emotional melodies.
Josef Salvat then hit the stage with a wealth of energy and his performance electrified the room and his audience. The already captivated crowed were stuck to the spot when the ethereal Samaris performed beautiful Icelandic pop filled with ambient vocals layered over electro beats, it was impossible not to be mesmerised by this band.
But the act that were the real show-stealers were headliners M O N E Y. Their 90's Mancunian sound immediately reeled the crowd in with their raw energy whilst Jamie Lee (lead vocals, guitar) opened and closed their set from amidst the crowd, leaving their adoring audience hungry for more.
