| Last year they were given a special award at the Womex festival and became a sensation of the year. The band Staff Benda Bilili coming straight from slum in Kinshasa, African Kongo, is formed by young homeless but also experienced musicians-wheelchair users who suffered from polio in their youth. Staff Band Benda Bilili - not only is it a moving story about a dream come true but it is also fantastic music with a big heart. This bunch of men in the wheelchairs has so much vitality and energy within that many younger bands with sound health could envy them. |
