I always know the summer season has really begun when I?m enviously looking at Trinity students sipping beer outside the Pav as I?m running in and out of the College on some errand or another.

The Trinity Ball is pretty much always our first event of the year.  It?s that show where you see all those faces you haven?t seen since last year and I always find myself saying little prayers to the moon gods for a little less mud in that field I?m going to be camped in for the following months.

Trinity is not a bad place for me to start my first Blog  and give you a little introduction to myself and explain what it is that I do at OXEGEN as it?s where I started off working at gigs.  I was the entertainments officer in the College a few

years ago and from there I managed to grab a job in MCD.   I?m a promoter by trade and putting on shows within the company is my main job. I have been lucky enough to work with some pretty amazing artists but nothing compares to working on the Festival.

You see, while I?m a big big music fan, I?m also festival obsessed and spent any spare money I had while I was a student trying to get to Festivals here and in the UK.

To me, the music festival is one of man?s greatest inventions ? 3 days of amazing music, bands for everyone and a non stop party to boot ? I mean really could you ask for more.  It?s an experience unlike any other and that?s the part of the festival I work on most ? enhancing that experience.  Enhancements is what we call it but basically it?s just trying to do anything possible to improve the look feel or personality of the festival.

So, over the next couple of weeks I?ll be giving you a run down on the various things that I?m up to and working on for the OXEGEN ahead.  From tipis to wellies and late night parties to iPhone-apps, I?ll be talking about them all here but for now I actually need to go and get a bit of work done.

Till next time

Niall
