On Monday May 6, Eric Harland Quintet will play the final concert of our first season at Gent Jazz Club. It will be a concert to look forward to, for this Texan drummer is known for his magnificent live performances and has already proven to being worth the title of one of the best drummers of the new generation. His music is characterized by polyrhythm, long sentences and complicated melodies.

"The New York Times" once described Harland as a man who assists setting the future of jazz and he has already been awarded the title of rising star by American jazz magazine Downbeat twice. After many years alongside big stars like McCoy Tuner, Charles Lloyd and Terence Blanchard, he found it time to make some work of his own, which was produced in 2010.

Together with bassist Harish Raghavan, saxophonist Walter Smith, pianist Taylor Eigsti and guitarist Nir Felder, Harland will give us a performance we will not quickly forget. Be there, because after this concert, you'll have to wait until September for the next show in our unique Ghent Jazz Club atmosphere.

The concert starts around 8.30 p.m. at the Belfort restaurant & café, below the City hall. Doors open at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are available online.

And for those amongst you who feel in the mood to try some drumming to, take an online class by the master himself:
