So lieblich ihr Name auch klingen mag: The Sugarhills aus Köln sind alles andere als das brave Singer-Songwriter-Duo von nebenan. Sängerin Peggy Sugarhill und Sänger und Gitarrist Till Kersting - auch im Privatleben ein Paar - liefern nämlich eine gänzlich ungezuckerte, dafür rebellisch zelebrierte Mischung aus altem Rhythm and Blues - bekanntlich eine der Hauptwurzeln von jamaikanischem Ska - New Rockabilly und Roots Rock.
Peggy Sugarhill gab mit ihrem 2011 erschienenen, gemeinsam mit den Backbeats von Dick Brave eingespielten Debütalbum der Rockabilly-Szene neue Impulse. Als Sängerin ist sie in den Formationen Peggy Sugarhill and the Eldorado Tigerettes sowie Rockemarieche aktiv. Fender Endorser Till Kersting wiederum veröffentlichte bisher zwei Soloalben, die ihm den Ruf als "Geschenk für die Gitarrenszene" (Guitar Magazin) einbrachten. Der wurde auch von Stefanie Heinzmann und Tom Beck erhört, die Kersting für ihre Gigs regelmäßig zu sich auf die Bühne holen.
Vielleicht kennt ihr Till auch aus Pussy Terror TV, denn Till ist der Bandleader von von Carolin Kebekus' Band ?Girls & Pussies'.

Peggy Sugarhill pumped some new blood into the Rockabilly scene with her debut album released in 2011 on which she was backed by Dick Brave's Backbeats. She is the leading light in two Rockabilly acts - "Peggy Sugarhill & The Elderado Tigerettes'' and "Rockemarieche''.
Fender endorser Till Kersting, for his part, has already released two solo albums as a singer and guitarist earning him the reputation of being a "gift for the guitar scene'' (Guitar Magazine). Major acts like Tom Beck as well as Stefanie Heinzmann frequently utilize his exceptional talent for their gigs. He is also very well-known as band leader in Carolin Kebebus' TV show "Pussy Terror`.
