Sonisphere line-up smashes everything else, says Architects frontman Architects frontman Sam Carter can't wait to play at Knebworth. He's just not sure who he's looking forward to watching the most.

"That line-up just looks so good," he says. "Sonisphere just smashes everything else I think.

" While he says he was more into punk as kid and didn't "really grow up on that genre or style" the Big 4 of Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax are metal institutions he looks up to.

"Bands like them set the target for every other metal band in the world. You want to be a good band you look up to those bands," explains Sam. "Slipknot are also playing and fucking hell they had a huge influence on me. I did love Slipknot before my punk days. Biffy Clyro as well are really fucking inspirational to us as a band because of where they've come from. "They started as this really, weird odd technical band and then progressed through to like this mass success.

They were a band for 12 years or so and no one had heard about them until about three years ago they blew up. They just kept going at it. And their new record is fucking great as well."

Sam missed out on the traditional festival experience as: "Right when I probably would have stated to go to festivals at about 17 or 18 we started doing them, so luckily I got into the festivals for free. The rest of the guys used to go like Tom and Dan. The first I went to was Download the first time we played it. It'd probably be pretty fun camping and meeting a bunch of new people, but we do the same in the artist camping." Architects are making their first appearance on the Sonisphere Apollo stage and plan to showcase some live debuts: "It's one of the few times we've done main stages, so we're going to try and do something special. We don't know what yet, but obviously it's got to be something big for a main stage. And we'll probably be playing songs we've never played before, some songs off the record we haven't thrown in live yet."
