We are also announcing Earl Sweatshirt, Calexico (US) and Wolf Alice (GB). With this announcement more hiphop, rock and indie is added to the NorthSide 2015 line-up.

Ben Howard

Ben Howard was catapulted in to the top of singer-songwriters in 2011 when his debut album Every Kingdom was released on Island Records. The album went platinum and was nominated for a Mercury Award.

The album beautifully combined melancholy melodies, amazing guitar skills and tempo changes taking the listeners through a musical journey with influences by Tim Buckley and Nick Drake, but at the same time it had a dusty, modern and upbeat sound.

During the last couple of years Ben Howard has played all over Europe and the US, and the venues have grown larger and larger. In 2013 he played the Glastonbury main stage and that year he also won two Brit Awards.

In the fall of 2014 his second album, I Forget Where We Were hit the shelves and it has rave great reviews.

Calexico

For almost 20 years, through eight albums and countless worldwide tours, the Arizona based band Calexico has crossed genres, changed instruments and members. They have been inspired from near and far on a musical journey, that has touched upon new terrain as well as visited more familiar places. Calexico mixes folk and americana with Latin-inspired music and tex-mex folklore - hence the band name, which is a contraction of California and Mexico.

In April, Calexico is releasing their new album Edge of the sun and even though they are known for bringing guest musician in on their albums this time they've outdone themselves. According to the band there's practically a new guest on each track. Among others Bren Bridwell from Band of Horses and Sam Beam from Iron & Wine appear on the record. The album was primarily written during a stay in the Mexican city Coyoacán, just like the songs on their previous album, Algiers, was written in New Orleans.

Earl Sweatshirt

The American rapper and producer Earl Sweatshirt was discovered in 2009 by Tyler, The Creator, who produced most of Sweatshirt's debut album, Earl (2010). That same year he joined the notorious rap-collective Odd Future.

After a year's stay at a boarding school far away from home, Sweatshirt returned in late 2011 to Los Angeles and his music. During 2012 he did guest spots for a number of artists, amongst others Frank Ocean on his massive hit-album, channel ORANGE.

Earl Sweatshirt's second album, Doris, was released in 2013 and included numerous collaborations with established artists such as The Neptunes, Frank Ocean and Tyler, The Creator. The album debuted at number 5 on the Billboard Top 200-list.

Earl Sweatshirt has recently finished his third album, which is yet to be released.

Wolf Alice

2014 was an eventful year for Wolf Alice who has been called a love child of folk and grunge. As the British band started to fill the festival stages the buzz in several European countries grew.

Wolf Alice was formed in the northern part of London in 2010, and in 2013 they released two singles and the EP Blush. In the spring of 2014 the critically acclaimed EP Creature Songs was released, and it made their popularity rise considerably.

Since the summer of 2014 Wolf Alice have imprisoned themselves in the studio, where they're working on their debut album.

With these four new artists we have announced two thirds of the line-up for NorthSide 2015. We are proud to present a new artist like Ben Howard who has been high on the wishlist amongst the audience and NorthSide for a long period, but also veterans Calexico are a strong act to add to the line-up.
