Winston Francis verkörpert die Geschichte des Reggae wie kaum ein anderer. Bereits Mitte der 60er Jahre tourte er mit Carlos Malcom & The Afro Jamaicans durch die USA und die Karibik, nahm 1969  sein Debutalbum "Mr. Fix It" im Studio One auf und hatte ab den späten 60ern und bis zum Ende der 70er Jahre zahlreiche weitere Hits wie "Too Experienced" (mit Bunny Wailer und Bob Marley als Backgroundsänger!), "Ten Times Sweeter" oder "Turn Back The Hands of Time". Wie kein anderer verstand er es, große Soul und Pophits aus den USA in einen jamaikanischen Kontext zu übertragen.
Bereits 1971 übersiedelte er nach England, arbeite danach mit zahlreichen Produzenten und Musikern von Roy Cousins über Dennis Bovell, Sly & Robbie, den Melodians bis zu A.J. Franklin von The Chosen Few zusammen.
In den letzten 10 Jahren fand man seine Stimme auf vielen Veröffentlichungen des englischen Superproduzenten Prince Fatty. Ein Soloalbum für Prince Fatty wird in Kürze erscheinen. Live tritt er am liebsten mit Rude Rich & The High Notes auf. Anfang 2016 erschien ihr gemeinsames Album "Just In Time" (Grover), das Winston Francis und Rude Rich & The High Notes beim Freedom Sounds vorstellen werden, ebenso wie natürlich seine größten Hits. Wir freuen uns sehr, dass wir sie dieses wunderbare Doppelpack endlich nach Köln holen können.

Winston Francis personifies the history of Reggae music. As early as the mid-60s he could be found touring the USA and the Caribbean with Carlos Malcolm & The Afro Jamaicans. In 1969 he recorded his debut album "Mr. Fix It" at Studio One, which was followed by a string of hit singles like "Too Experienced" (with Bunny Wailer and Bob Marley on backing vocals!), "Ten Times Sweeter" or "Turn Back The Hands of Time", often showcasing his great talent for transferring American soul hits into a Jamaican context.
Since moving to England in 1971, he has recorded and performed with numerous great producers and musicians from Roy Cousins to Dennis Bovell, Sly & Robbie, the Melodians to A.J. Franklin (The Chosen Few).
In recent years he could be heard one many Prince Fatty releases. A solo album for Prince Fatty will also be released very soon. On stage, Rude Rich & The High Notes have long become his favourite backing band. In early 2016, Winston and the High Notes released their new album "Just in Time" (Grover), which they will present at Freedom Sounds 2017, together with all his other great hits, of course. We are delighted to finally have this double barrel of Ska, Rocksteady and soulful Reggae on stage in Cologne!
