Spectacularly opening the R:Evolutionary festival at the Petrovaradin Fortress will be Nile Rodgers and his original band Chic!

Who is Nile Rodgers? It is hard to find adequate words to describe the significance of his creative mind. It is not too much to say that he is, and will be marked in the history of music as one of the people who influenced the course of popular music - producer, composer and guitarist is considered responsible for successes, singles and albums by grand artists such as David Bowie and Duran Duran; for creating Madonna, and also for being wanted by the likes of Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson. He is a man who proves his modern visions by creating disco anthems, as well as modern hits which include Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance”, as well as working with names such as Chase & Status, Avicii and Felix da Housecat. Other names which are included in his long list of collaborations are Sister Sledge, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Diana Ross, B-52s, INXS and many more!

Chic, Nile’s original band is one of the most notable pop and disco sensations of all times. Their hits, recognizable by almost all people in the world were also sampled and covered numerous times - “Good Times”, “Dance, Dance, Dance”, “Everybody Dance”, and especially “I Want Your Love” and “Le Freak”, with the ever-present whoop “aaah, freak out” altogether represent the foundation of modern dance music.
