The Great Escape alumni have gone on to be some of the biggest and brightest stars in the current musical stratosphere. With our tenth birthday coming up, it's time to reflect on a few of the best. For this week's #TBT, we're back in 2010...

Chase & Status (UK)
Chase-Status-Dome-Victor-Frankowski-2
Played @ Brighton Dome
Chase & Status' frenetic beats have made the electronic act one of the greatest dance acts in the UK today, complete with smash hit chart singles and huge festival appearances to boot. Their explosive TGE Brighton Dome show was one to remember, with an excited crowd basking in the all-consuming atmosphere created by the drum and bass duo. 2011 saw the release of "No More Idols", which entered the UK album charts at number two and went gold within the first week of sales. This summer saw them bring their euphoric live intensity to their headline set at GlobalGathering, following a storming sub-headline slot at Reading and Leeds last year. With their hit singles fast becoming dance classics, and their live show proving a massive draw, we can't see Chase & Status slowing down any time soon.

Hurts (UK)
Hurts
Played @ Coalition
There's something about synth-pop duo Hurts' sound that propels the band's soaring melancholy straight to the core. Their vast sound and brooding intensity has been a huge success in the UK and further afield, with both of their albums going top ten on home turf, resulting in tour dates across the world. Their 2010 TGE show proved a master class in live power, with their dramatically emotional sound earning them festival slots at the likes of Glastonbury, V Festival and Lovebox. Their 2011 Glastonbury slot went on to be voted the best of the festival by NME, beating the headliners. With a third album in the works, we can't wait to see what they've got in store for us next.

Warpaint (USA)
Warpaint - Corn Exchange (22)e (Rob Orchard)
Played @ Horatio's Bar
The bewitching haziness created by Warpaint's scintillating art rock has seen them become a favourite for fans of atmospheric indie over the last few years. First playing TGE in 2010 before the release of their first album "The Fool' (critically acclaimed, scoring 9/10 from NME), the incontestably cool four-piece beguiled their audience with their hypnotic sound, punctuated by striking yet nebulous vocals - enough to warrant a return the following year to TGE at the Corn Exchange. Their second self-titled album was met with yet more praise and followed by some huge summer festival sets, including Reading and Leeds, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury. Although they've just rescheduled their upcoming UK dates to March next year, tickets are still available, so get in quick.

Everything Everything (UK)
everything
Played @ The Corn Exchange
Indie rock innovators Everything Everything have been working their way up the TGE ranks since before the release of their first album with their 2009 Komedia show. After being picked up by indie labels early on for their eclectic sound, the band's genre-crossing, expectation bending albums have been a huge success, both with the critics and the public, with second album "Arc" peaking at number five in the UK album chart and scoring a Mercury Prize nomination. The band's unpredictability and wide range of influences coupled with their dazzling catchiness have earned them slots at festivals from Isle of Wight to Glastonbury, including a fantastic return to The Great Escape, playing Brighton Dome in 2013.

Tinie Tempah (UK)
High Quality Wallpaper
Played @ Coalition
Even though Tinie Tempah had only released one single prior to his TGE set at Coalition, the hype it created (Pass Out went straight to number one in the UK) was big enough to pack out the venue. The London rapper's showmanship and frenetic beats captured our attention, and it appears everyone else's: to date Tinie's had a whopping twelve top ten singles, six as the lead artist. As well as winning two BRITS in 2011, the MC has performed with some of the biggest names on the biggest stages around over the last few years, including the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony and playing Glastonbury with Snoop Dogg. With such a following and a host of great collaborations under his belt, we're sure whatever track he drops next will be yet another floor-filler.

Other stand out artists to have played TGE 2010 include Angus and Julia Stone, Anna Calvi, Band of Skulls, Best Coast, Blood Red Shoes, Broken Social Scene, Cornershop, Crystal Fighters, Django Django, Ed Harcourt, Ellie Goulding, Groove Armada, Japandroids, Little Comets, Mount Kimbie, Real Estate, SBTRKT, The Cribs, The Joy Formidable, Pulled Apart By Horses and Wild Beasts.

Here is our playlist featuring a few stand out artists from TGE 2010
