-Bio

SUNANDBASS is the original drumandbass holiday. Since 2003 SUNANDBASS has attracted drumandbass lovers from all over the world for a whole week of music holidays. Our events are staged in different locations throughout the Sardinian village of San Teodoro and set to the backdrop of Italian soul-food, crystal clear Sardinian waters and white sand beaches. As a festival run by music lovers SUNANDBASS aims to bring a vibrant and diverse array of international talent to the line-up each year. You can expect to hear the scene's biggest DJs line up alongside the genres freshest, groundbreaking talent. Immersed in the Italian dolce vita for a week while listening to cutting edge performances of music and fresh productions together, SUNANDBASS has contributed significantly to the vibrancy of the scene and made Sardinia the most popular cultural destination in the world of drumandbass. This music is a perfect fit, because it is so versatile. In it's allowing structure it holds so many possibilities to bridge energies and feelings between creators, performers and the audience and it is meant to evolve. Remaining open to its full range of delicacy and roughness, beauty and ugliness, wild energy and calmness, always ready to transform our music into a more beautiful and yet truer reflection of ourselves as a community.

The last SUNANDBASS was organised in 2019, as the COVID-19 crisis put a sudden hold on it's sizzling success story.

-2021

It is 2021, and unfortunately we cannot tell any of you, if our traditional, week long gathering can happen this September. The world is quiet and on pause, yet things remain extremely unpredictable. While it is a deeply-cutting experience to not be able to hold our events as planned, we do love to see all of your many posts, pictures, clips and comments on social media. Every single comment, every shared experience showed the love rooted in our tribe and events, even if we cannot physically meet on our sacred ground for our event at the moment.

We are as always monitoring the situation and the advice of the local and national health organisations to ultimately decide if we can have our gathering in 2021. SUNANDBASS is made up of a large global community and it's important to us that everyone has an equal chance to gather safely each year. In this vein, we may wait to have a festival until we can host it to our usual standards.

-Podcast & Label

During these quiet times, we are working hard in the background on our monthly podcast and label: SUNANDBASS Recordings. Both the label and podcast were established to provide a platform for emerging and established artists to share tracks that showcase their relationship with our festival. Our podcast will provide you with a fresh mix from our dearest artists on the first week of every month. For now, this is our way of gathering and reconnecting with our community of drumandbass lovers. The label, however, is more behind-the-scenes work and we aim to release new music a few times a year. The ethos of the label is to release music with both a personal touch and to represent the spirit of the SUNANDBASS. Set up in 2011, we have released compilation albums, EPs, singles, albums along with many more records and merch to go along with it of some of the biggest names in drumandbass.

-Diversity & Environment

Right from the start, we strived for an environmentally friendly event and with each edition we aim to reduce our footprint. To date, we have been working towards the elimination of single use plastics and ensuring we leave San Teodoro as we found it- rubbish free!

We created SUNANDBASS to be a safe space for everyone by promoting diversity, equality and simply, well-being. We are proud to promote the artists of EQ50 which aims to improve gender equality and diversity in the drumandbass community. Working toward a more inclusive event and protecting the environment has always been, and still is, a really difficult journey. But swimming against the stream was never meant to be easy, and every little win counts. Alas, we're unmanageably committed to fight for this vision!
