Debuting on student radio BFM in 1998, she quickly began to make a name for herself on the rave scene and was scouted in 2001 for what was to become a long-time stint hosting weekly on New Zealand dance radio station George FM. She was also selected for residencies all over Auckland and became one of the hottest DJs on the party circuit. A well-respected promoter, she was the face and signature sound of "Liquid Recreation', one of the city's most infamous monthly nights she created and toured around the country.

Performing alongside many of the industry's most respected artists on tour down in New Zealand eventually led to an inevitable relocation to the UK, to immerse herself in the scene where the heart of Drum & Bass truly began. Upon meeting in the UK and discovering a mutual love affair for soulful Drum and Bass with a desire to raise the profile of females on the decks and mic respectively, Emma G and MC Tali came up with the idea to create an exclusive mix and give it out for free.

The Soulside Sessions brand was born, and after the first episode was positively received, the two have gone on to release 10 Soulside Sessions and steadily build a cult following. Their unique brand of beautifully curated tracks combined with positive uplifting lyrical content, has seen love for these two artists growing steadily around the globe, with career highlights including three successful European tours (including a performance at the legendary Fabric nightclub in London), a North American tour, performances together at Northern Bass Festival in New Zealand, and Sun and Bass Festival in Sardinia, plus a forthcoming exclusive Radio1 Mix.

Q. What tunes are you listening to at the moment and why?

A. I can't stop listening to our newly signed artist/alias Tatora. I love discovering new talent and having a platform (Integral) to shine some light on it is amazing. Also listening to new music from TX who is definitely one to watch. And not forgetting Alix's new album which I am really feeling. 

Q. From your perspective, how have things changed for womxn in the drumandbass community in recent years? What would be your hopes going forward?

A. Our scene has always felt strong but the solidarity continuing to build within the female community has been particularly empowering, as it never used to be like this. 

It's great to see more opportunities opening up for womxn but there is still much work to do!

Q. 2020 has been a tough year for a lot of us, has it affected your creative output in any way? Is there something that you learned or rediscovered about yourself during this time?

A. Music has been a saviour in particular this year; for me it's always been medicinal. Music has played a vital role in my mental well-being and keeping a healthy state of mind. It's my escapism, and I've been really inspired by those in our community who have really progressed with their musical projects in these testing times. 

Q. Is there anything else you'd like to add?

A. Very excited about my debut Radio1 mix set to air on the BBC Wind Down series on Boxing Day representing for Integral Records and womxn in dnb!
