Q. What tunes are you listening to at the moment and why?

Konessi - Mr. Shadow EP, on Kokeshi iheartkokeshi.bandcamp.com

Q. From your perspective, how have things changed for womxn in the drumandbass community in recent years? What would be your hopes going forward?

Sadly a lot hasn't changed and I think that's been the issue. We're getting older and there wasn't a lot of movement until Mantra did her spreadsheet about festival lineups. A lot of shitty stuff was normalised.  Organisations like EQ50, which is something I'm involved in, and some others are making some great strides now. We need to think about diversity, not only at events but also on label rosters - get womxn, especially black womxn and womxn of colour, into a space that feels safe and encourages them to go for it and uplift them.

Q. 2020 has been a tough year for a lot of us, has it affected your creative output in any way? Is there something that you learned or rediscovered about yourself during this time?

I think after 9 months I have done plenty of soul searching . A lot of my thoughts lately are "what do I want?' because I have more time to think about it. My music work on the business side is pretty much gone, so at the moment I'm working on more creative stuff like my record label, Kokeshi, and also trying to finish some tunes that have been on my mind for a while. I'm also starting a Pilates business which has been in the works for a couple years already . In a way it's good to have a break and time off to just "be' and not work so hard, but also with the stresses of Covid and not having the same business as before it's not so easy. I'm trying to just take it slow and do the best I can.

Q.  And now some total fantasy here... If by some magic, a miracle happened tonight while you were sleeping and when you wake in the morning the world is in a much better and happier place. What would that look like  for you?

I'd wish for Peace mostly and health for everyone. I feel there is a shift now and an awareness that wasn't there before, but at the same time saddened there are still a lot of ignorant folks out there who don't care for others or care for anything outside their own bubble. Equality for all would be amazing.
