Q. What tunes are you listening to at the moment and why?

A. A couple of tunes that have moved my spirit lately have to include: L-Side & GQ "Zagga Dan", Critycal Dub & L-Side "Original Don", Jappa "Clash", Ben Soundscape "See a Shadow". Each one of these tracks pretty much embody the sounds that I bring to the dance floor when I play, very full of the hard and light blends of ups and downs we go on in the journey of being moved by music.

Q. From your perspective, how have things changed for womxn in the drumandbass community in recent years? What would be your hopes going forward?

A. I think in general there seems to be more females wanting to get involved in being an active participant in music via DJ, Producer, Radio Show host, Music writer, etc.  I have seen more all women collectives as well these days, which I think may be what some people need, to feel like they can get more involved.  I hope going forward though it won't matter what gender someone is, only that like minds can get together and put out some positive sounds that they are feeling. I think it's super important to stop focusing on what you see and concentrate more on what you hear.

Q. 2020 has been a tough year for a lot of us, has it affected your creative output in any way? Is there something that you learned or  rediscovered about yourself during this time?

A. It certainly has!  It's been the most challenging year I think for most people in their lives, perhaps myself included.  I have tried to keep my regular routine going as much as possible being at home now most of the time.  I get up at a decent hour, take a shower, exercise, became vegetarian and try to do the same things I would do on the weekdays and weekends.  I make sure to check on friends and acquaintances that I might have only seen out previously at events.  I have always been pretty good and keeping in touch with people I care about no matter where they are in the world, so I continue to maintain my friendships.  I also started taking Pilates once a week from Alicia aka DJ Alleycat, which has been pretty cool and I think it brought us even closer together even though she is in London and I am in NYC.

Q. Is there anything else you'd like to add?

A. If you happen to live alone during these pandemic times, might I suggest adopting an animal?  (Even if you don't live alone) We have 3 adopted cats at home and I have to say it's been a huge benefit as most of our time now is able to be spent with them.  Save their lives and yours, you won't regret it! A friend for life.
