Techno is a constantly mutating genre that has not ceased to provide fruit over the last  25 years. 2011 is an especially rich vintage for artists that base their style on the essence of techno (darkness, depth, the glimpse of an imminent future).

Some are pioneers and absolute masters of the genre, as well as breakers of its moulds (Aphex Twin, Global Communication, Surgeon, Appara Band, James Holden, and Italy's Lory D, an unsung legend of the Italian underground, now on Glasgow's Numbers label); others have been seeking out new niches between techno and other genres for some time (Shackleton, Scuba and Actress, three producers defining the present and future of the genre); while others are starting to unravel the basics of techno in their initial outings (Silent Servant and Raime).

A sign of the return of techno as a basic language in experimentation and the search for new approaches to electronica is the fact that several of the younger artists at the festival, such as Ragul, Hiroaki Oba, Illum Sphere and Neuron also use the genre as one of the cornerstones for their work. The future of the genre is therefore assured.
