When he was 66, he received the Best Breakthrough Act Award at Mojo Awards poll. This kind of reflects the life journey of Steven Gene Wold, known under the stage name Seasick Steve. He was born in 1941 in California, left home at 13, wandered around and made living as a cowboy, lumberjack or farm laborer; in pubs and bars, he would play guitars that he made of whatever material available - crates, cans, pickaxes. But he released his first record no sooner than 2006, when after roaming around, he finally settled down in Norway. A year later, his follow-up Dog House Music came out and literally catapulted him to big stages, including Glastonbury.
