By early evening the OXEGEN 2010 party was in full swing with fans and some of the hottest acts out creating an amazing atmosphere on site.
By 8pm almost all the acts on the bill had arrived at OXEGEN, and with hip hop star Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce due to fly in just ahead of his Main Stage slot anticipation is reaching fever pitch.
In the arena tens of thousands of fans packed the area in front of the Main Stage to see New York?s Vampire Weekend playing a blistering set.
The band prompted mass crowd singa-longs with tracks like ?Blake?s Got a New Face? and ?Oxford Comma?.
Showing off their local knowledge they told fans: ?You?ve been awesome so far ? what is it you guys say here ? Good craic!?
And before closing their set with indie hit ?Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa? the band thanked the crowd saying: ?We couldn?t have had a better day, this is perfect. Have a great weekend!?
Fantastic homegrown talent was on show with crowd-pulling sets from Delorentos at the Heineken Green Spheres Stage and The Coronas rocking The Vodafone Stage.
Among the fans were members of the Irish rugby team and Newcastle United FC.
Backstage OXEGEN staff are working flat out to make sure the bands have an amazing festival experience too.
A new grooming parlour has been introduced in the artist?s area, with band members lining up to have their hair and make-up expertly done ahead of taking to the stage.
Dressing room staff expect to get through 2,500 towels over the weekend, along with a range of exclusive drinks – including Ace of Spades champagne, which retails at more than 300 euros a bottle.
The new OXEGEN branded Dunlop welly has also been a hit with the bands today, with several of the headliners requests their own pairs.
Other rider requests have included a toothbrush for one forgetful artist, while a member of the OXEGEN team had to go on dash to Dublin to pick up a new pair of shoes for a singer who?d lost his
