The Drums’ gig at The Cockpit as part of the LIVE AT LEEDS festival this Friday 30th April is now cancelled due to the volcanic ash which halted flights in UK airspace.

The band released the following statement:

“Hey guys,

I think you know whats coming. This is Caleb, Jacob’s little brother. The other day I was with my friend, and he said “where’s you’re brother?” I said, last I heard he was going to the U.K. to play some shows. Then he replied “but they are canceling all the flights over seas because of the volcano.” And there you have it, the following shows are, and it is my regret that I must inform you, that the shows are, and I am so sorry that I am the one who has to say it, that the following shows are canceled:

29th April    at The Garage in London

30th April    at The Cockpit in Leeds

5th May      at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh with Florence and the Machine

This is of course due to some certain magma near Eyjafjallajokull stirring and deciding to make that beautiful transformation from magma to lava. For one magma and lava are real things, and real things are tangible, and those real things can hurt you, or people around you, others say to be careful, and you reply while looking into the wind “Never”. The lava has hence forth erupted onto the face of the earth with such biblical force not yet seen by our generation. The progress of human affairs…

The Drums are very sorry not to be able to play these shows and are trying to think of ways to make it up to you. Please don’t lose heart. We are one.

Sincerely,

Caleb”

Refunds are available for all ticket holders. The schedule for Saturday 1st May for the main LIVE AT LEEDS all dayer remains unaffected.
