Now we're going to introduce a domestic artist, Opoussumi, who's playing in the free tekno lineup of Gravity.

You're known as a multi-genre DJ, but this year you're going to be playing free tekno. How did you discover it and what do you like about it?

My journey with free tekno started some years back when I was looking for new, harder music to play besides the Goa and psytrance I was playing at parties at the time. I was immediately taken over by the fast, pumping energy and repetitive kick drums of hardtek from artists like Wems, Darktek, and Neurokontrol, to name a few.

Tekno is associated with free party culture. What does the latter mean to you?

As a DJ and free party organizer, the free party culture means many things to me. In part, it's political activism to oppose the ruling, archaic forces, but mainly it's about getting together with people to have fun with an awesome sound system. The people who attend our parties (Näästek) here in Finland differ a lot from one another, which always makes for a nice, diverse group of people who all enjoy a similar sound.

What types of music would you wish to see more in Kosmos in the future?

In the future, I would love to see the sound of Kosmos continue to evolve while staying true to its roots. It would be exciting to see it spiced up with some faster, more energetic styles, perhaps some high-energy Frenchcore or experimental Hardtek. That kind of raw, unexpected energy always works and makes a festival truly memorable.
