Iceland Airwaves 2009 Schedule now available

The full schedule for Iceland Airwaves 2009 is available now online. There are over 215 artists performing at this year?s festival, 160 local and 55 international acts.  We have also over 22 partners that will host their own events so expect awesomeness.  Our headline sponsors for this years festival are the same as previous years, Icelandair & City Of Reykjavik.

Amnesty International & Iceland Airwaves

Iceland Airwaves and Amnesty International have teamed up this year to promote human rights against poverty.  Friday 16 October will be dedicated to this cause at Iceland Airwaves.  The festival is very excited about this newly established partnership and has high hopes for strong and good relationship for years to come.

Venue Partners

This year we have great variety of venue partners.  Record Labels Moshi Moshi, Kimi Records and Bedroom Community will host their own nights along with Kerrang!, Clash Magazine, Bugged Out, Rás 2, PZ, Kronik, ATG (Ahead Of the Game), Breakbeat.is, Weirdcore, Grapevine, Grapewire, Reyk Week, Goethe, SESAC and many more.  This is going to be legend – wait for it – dary

Off Venue Program

Iceland Airwaves will also offer a great Off Venue program around the festival dates where you will find great variety of exhibitions, music and art.  There will be over 200 acts performing over 26 venues around Reykjavik.  More info on the Off Venue program here. Wristband allocation

Those who have bought tickets, please note that you need to exchange that for a wristband to gain access to the festival.  This can be done at the Information Center at Skifan, Laugavegi 26.  The Information centre will be open from Monday at 10:00 am.  See more info here.

Kings Of Convenience ? special wristband allocation

We will be distributing special wristbands for the Kings Of Convenience performance for Friday 16 October.  This is due to very limited capacity at Frikirkjan church.  This is of course is only available for Iceland Airwaves 2009 wristband holders.  These wristbands will be allocated on Friday 16 October at 12:00pm on a first-come, first-serve basis.  These wristbands do not cost anything extra but there is limit to one wristband per person.  More info to be announced shortly.

Airwaves TV

We just launched our first ever Airwaves TV.  This will be updated 2-3 times a day from Monday 12 October.  You will find interviews with bands, news, concert recordings and many more.   Check our website and www.mbl.is for updates. (from Monday)  English version will be available very soon.
