A micro climate where everything is possible.

The festival’s atmosphere has made Dour ever so popular all around Europe and was once again the high point of the 2009 edition.
During 4 days, an eclectic audience truly lives together, forgets about social or cultural barriers and shares unique musical experiences. That’s the magical Dour touch that’s quite hard to categorize.

Maybe a way to explain that phenomenon is to look at the varied and cohesive line-up, at Dour everything seems possible! A festival has the audience it deserves and at Dour we’re proud that our festival goers actually do love music. Where else could you find Aphex Twin + Hecker, Pet Shop Boys, Sepultura and Alborosie?

A WELL OILED ORGANISATION

This year again, Dour Festival has proved its doubters wrong. The new festival site and the way it’s managed are now a well oiled machine: festival-goers are welcomed in the best possible conditions. They can spend a relaxing festival that allows them to relish an exceptional line-up at a tiny price. Talk about a bargain!

As French Magazine Les Inrockuptibles puts it: “If you can’t find anything you like at Dour, you’re either dead or death”

“OVER 140.000 FESTIVAL GOERS AT DOUR FESTIVAL ” [1]

Once again Dour Festival was a success: 34.000 tickets sold on Thursday, 35.000 on friday and 36.000 on Saturday and Sunday. That’s over 140.000 tickets sold over 4 days in Belgium and abroad. Dour confirms once again it’s leadership in the French speaking side of Belgium. We can also reveal that 22.00 festival goers were already on site a day early on Wednesday, they filled 2 camping sites in 30 minutes! In total 30.000 people stayed n the camping site during the festival.

A FESTIVAL AT THE CROSSROAD OF EUROPE [AND THE WORLD] [2]

People come from all across Europe to spend 4 days of fun and music at Dour.
The media coverage is getting bigger every year with 850 journalists present this year, that’s 500 Belgians, 200 French, 50 Dutch and 40 British journalists.
But we can also add media from Luxembourg, Canada, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Estonia, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Australia, Poland, USA,…

This year again, our line-up was international whilst leaving some room for local talent. Out of the 200 bands playing at Dour this year, there were 51 Belgian bands, 41 American bands, 30 French artists, 29 haling from the UK, 1 Russian combo, 2 Japanese, 2 swedish, 2 Brazilians and 1 Australian.

DOUR SORTS ITS WASTE

Even though we welcomed 36.000 people on the site every day, we managed to keep the site clean. The exchange actions and PMC bin bags worked even better than in previous years. We can already congratulate the festival goers for sorting more and better than ever before.

Dour’s magical receipe [200 bands, 4 days, 6 stages with live music from midday 'til 5am] should stay unchanged in 2010.
