He began his career to fame in Soungarden at the end of the 80´s, in the beginning of the grunge. Some years later, his first solo work came: the melancholic ?Euphoria Morning? (1999) that surprised his old fans. Already in the XXI century he formed the band Audioslave together with Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford, members of Rage Against The Machine. Some other contribution to music has been his solo compositions for sound tracks like ?Great Expectations? y ?Impossible Mission II? or his songs ?Seasons? and ?Birth Ritual? for the film ?Singles? among others. And, we cannot forget ?You Know My Name?, the main tune for James Bond?s film ?Casino Royale? included in his second solo album ?Carry On? (2007).

If in previous solo records like ?Euphoria Morning? (1999) and ?Carry On? (2007), he had already gone further from the rock scene, in his new ?Scream?, surprising everyone with dance rhythms, synthesizers and disco effects. Regarding to his lyrics, he has left behind existentialism and life torments and substituted them by dance lustful nights.

The album has been produced by Timbaland, producer of Justin Timberlake, Madonna, Missy Elliot or Nelly Furtado, and it has meant a radical change in his mainstream rock style. Apparently, he was tired of the pentatonic scales and the closed structures of the hard rock as he has already commented about his favourite bands: ?To tell you the truth, if they didn?t changed, I got very bored. If they were five or six albums in the same stuff, I wasn?t interested in their work anymore?. For the concerts and despite the shift of style, Cornell doesn?t change and he plays with this usual musicians. ?it's the same band, we only add a keyboard player but I think that?s the only different thing?.

If Chris Cornell´s most rock fans looked for the reason to be able to explain this radical change, they should start with Missy Elliot as it was by listening to the song ?The Rain? Cornell discovered Timbaland. ?I love that song but I had no idea he had produced it?. And that?s how everything started. ?What happened was that I was talking in the phone with Timbaland about some songs I needed him to remix and I thought it could be cool to record a whole album together, and that´s how it happened, jajaja. Basically he liked the idea and we rushed into it?.
