Over 40 performances spread across 5 stages throughout the festival's 2 days, most of them exclusive performances in Spain

Azkena Rock Festival is all set to celebrate its 18^th edition next 21^st and 22^nd of June in Vitoria-Gasteiz.  The festival is revving its engines in anticipation of a mind-blowing roster of artists headlined by Wilco, icons of American rock; rockabilly legends Stray Cats; The B-52s on their farewell tour; The Cult, celebrating the 30^th anniversary of their most legendary album, Sonic Temple; Tesla, 10 years after their last Spanish tour and the only chance to see them this year; supergroup Deadland Ritual, featuring musicians from Black Sabbath, Apocalyptica, and Guns N' Roses; Philip H. Anselmo & the Illegals, with a repertoire consisting solely of Pantera covers; The Living End, one of the great Australian bands of recent decades; the legendary Meat Puppets; Corrosion of Conformity, celebrating their most iconic album's 25^th anniversary; all of the aforementioned exclusive performances; Neko Case, one of the most relevant contemporary female singer-songwriters; Tropical Fuck Storm, all the rage at the moment; and the most primitive of rock and roll going down at Trashville, with Blind Rage & Violence, Los Torontos, and Pussycat & the Dirty Johnsons; and so on to a total of 44 artists performing on 5 stages on the festivalgrounds and one in town over the course of the festival's two days.  

The party will get underway each morning at the Virgen Blanca plaza with free shows by Tami Neilson on Friday and Danny & the Champions of the World on Saturday, part of a yearly tradition in which the city is immersed in the festival spirit and the plaza becomes mingling ground for festivalgoers and Vitoria-Gasteiz residents.  The doors of Mendizabala, the festivalgrounds, will open each day at 5:00pm.  Not only the best live music will be filling the air there; the motorcycles of Wall of Death will also be heard to roar at the Azkena Rock Festival once again, to the beat of the wildest rock in four daily sessions.  Also, Trashville is bringing back Mexican extreme fighting, a spectacle of holds and acrobatics with fearsome masked luchadores and luchadoras in three daily matches.  For logistic reasons some Trashville timetables have had to be slightly modified.  

Wristband pickup
To access the festival attendees must trade in their day pass or multi-day pass for the festival wristband.  Starting Thursday, festivalgoers can pick up their wristband at the ticket booths on the festivalgrounds between the hours of 5:00pm and 10:00pm (Thursday) and 3:00pm and 2:00am (Friday and Saturday).  There will also be a wristband pickup station downtown, at the Virgen Blanca plaza where the free concerts will take place, open on Friday and Saturday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm.

2020 Ticket
The first tickets for the 2020 edition will go on sale at an exclusive reduced rate at the festival and the Virgen Blanca ticket station.

School of rock
Throughout its 18 years of existence, the Azkena Rock Festival has been an inter-generational commons, a school of rock to which music lovers bring their progeny, and, aware of that reality, the festival takes it upon itself to facilitate that cultural heritage and the enjoyment of the experience as a family with a special family access point at the festivalground entrances and by granting free access to minors under the age of 14.  We remind you that legal guardians of all minors under 16 must fill out a permission form online or at the ticket booth.

Camping
The nearest lodging to the festival is definitely its campsite, located just meters from the entrance.  This service not only offers the usual pitch plots, but also "glamping' for those who've traveled far and prefer to arrive to a pitched tent, made bed, and even, as a novelty this year, capsule chambers.

Food trucks
The festival will also feature an exquisite and thoughtful battery of food trucks, with victuals catering to all tastes and diets including vegetarian and celiac alternatives, as well as sugar- and alcohol-free beverages.

Again this edition, the cups are recyclable and reusable in keeping with the festival's commitment to sustainability.
