| SALVADOR ŞANGÓ (pronounced Shongó) is the brainchild of Sotiris Papadopoulos, a Greek of the diaspora who has spent a considerable part of his life in West Africa. Their music is an eclectic mix between Yoruba (West African poly rhythms and exotic lyrics) with Afrocuban/Rock/Afrobeat/Flamenco styles masterfully crafted into the novel brand of AFROFUSION. The ethnic composition of the band (five Nigerians and one Greek) also reflects this musical alloy and is crowned by the visual/aural spectacle of the Greek singing flawlessly in Yoruba. Traditional Yoruba rhythms are mostly played on Afrocuban percussion instruments thereby giving the music a unique color |
