| Biography The Band´s name come from the indigenous Mexican mythology: La Calzada de los Muertos, - birthplace of the gods, the sun and the moon-.wich is also the name that the Aztecs gave to the main street that conects the ancient City and archaeological site of Teotihuacan,in center México the band reflects culture, mysticism,rebeluos beats of traditional music which transcends and leaves an audience with touch of tradition and magic. The band got together for the first time in the City of Berlin ,in the spring of 2005 and has been playing ever since,with now almost 500 concerts.La Calzada started off in the squats of Berlin( occupied cultural alternative "Kommunen"and other alternative forums and soon started to get opportunities to play in bars, concert halls and festivals in different German and Mexican cities sharing stage with international bands like Panteon Rococo (Mex), Molotov (Mex), Chencha Berrinches(USA), Les Tetes Raiders(F), Skorzo(Spain), Mutabor(D) and Los Calzones Rotos (Arg),Rastrillos,(México)Fermin Munguruza(Vasque country) During the last years, La Calzada de los Muertos was invited to perform not only in Mexico and Germany, but they also went on tour rocking in Poland, Czech Republic, Belgium, Austria and Turkey.Switzerland ,Spain and France,the public and cMusic critics have given always a great positive response at the bands live shows,calling it a "Great Live Band"(Warschauer Magazine , Germany) “La Muerte con Charango” is the name of their first Album released in 2009 ,although only 2500 copies were printed and sold out, the music can be find mostly online In 2009 the Rolling Stone Magazine(México) gave the Album positive critics and recommended the songs “La Bruja” and “Llorona”. La Calzada de los Muertos does not defy boundaries when it comes to music. They are simply not an average rock band. La Calzada shows an extended mixture of influences including a fusion between Latin rhythms for parties and carnival with the power and rebellion of Punk and Rock and a Mexican Mariachi flavour. “Mariachi Internacional El Dorado” collaborated with the band in the song “La Bruja” and Dr. Shenka, vocal from Panteon Rococo, in the song “Sigo Caminando” La Calzada de los Muertos has finished the recording of new songs for the new Vinyl disc entitled “Invasion”. They are also preparing the filming and production of the new video of the single "Invasion". Soon there will be more information about the video and vinyl presentation. La Calzada de los Muertos plans to keep touring Europe and the Americas with a new renovated and enhanced Live Show for 2012 |
