| Lazimba Leighton Brown, a.k.a. Lazimba “The Kingston Lion” is a sing-jay, guitarist and song writer born in Kingston, Jamaica and currently lives both in Germany and Jamaica. He grew up between the home of the late Bob Marley and the Sandy Park community off Hope Road, in the musical Mecca. The tension between the Kingston ‘Upper Class’ and the inspiring roughness of the ghetto motivated Lazimba to write his own songs from a tender age, and he also learned guitar riffs from “Busy” a musician who now plays with Ziggy Marley. He continued to improve his musical skills with vocal and instrumental training and worked on several independent projects. In the late 90s Lazimba played and performed in a few bands and was featured on shows such as St. Lucia Jazz Festival, Columbia Club in Berlin, Muffathalle, Munich Germany, Summerjam in Cologne and the Rototom Sunsplash in Italy, also various venues in Germany for the FIFA-World Cup as well as many local concerts in Jamaica. In addition he has shared the stage with artistes like Julian Marley, Damian ‘Junior Gong’ Marley, Ziggy Marley, Alpha Blondy, Burning Spear and Javan Genius among others. While touring Lazimba developed his own personal style mixed with Dancehall, Roots Reggae and Hip Hop. He attracted the attention of some concert promoters and the Hip Hop crew “Main Concept” and later collaborated with them in the 58Beat Studio in Munich, Germany. After a short solo-tour through Berlin, Augsburg and Munich the artist has returned to the studios where he is working with different musicians and producers and has released a few singles. Now with a self-owned independent label “Kingston Lion Records” and under the management of “Anness” they are now promoting two singles Blaze It and Rootsie Girl as Lazimba continues to secure a solid foundation in music. |
