Sammy came to Sweden in june 1991 to play with Ahmadu Jah and The Highlife Orchestra.
He met some Swedish and African musicians and formed the Makonde Band. -
"Since he come from Uganda, he grew up listening to Rumba and Soukous
which was mostly played on the radio, that is the style he took up when he started playing music.
So Sammy and his colleagues decided to play uplifting rhythms based on

In particular, his Muziki album contains some of Kenya’s best love songs. Starting with the award winning Kipenzi, where he reaffirms his love to his dearest, and then followed by Ndoa Ya Furaha which is a reflection of a good marriage.
