Who is Anschein? The experimental live electro artist Anscheinconsists of Adrian S., a 26 years young and passionate musician, based in Marburg. His sound is rather difficult to classify in terms of genre definitions but contains elements of modern techno, acid and progressive deep tech. The live set up Anscheinis using is an essential determinant, hence it is forming his unique organic sound. From a simplified perspective his basic tools are a drum computer, synthesizers, diverse midi controllers & step sequencers and diverse analogue inputs, such as guest vocalists and instruments. Every single pattern, sound, noise and sample is processed and produced live and instantaneously. Accordingly, every set sounds different and is unique, like the set of a live band. Anscheinis not a producer, he is a live musician. Digging in the past… His musical journey started around a decade ago when he played his first bigger shows as a drummer in the progressive stoner rock project “Cliffsight” where he is performing till now. Rhythm is the backbone of music and by being able to play the drums for such a long time, it has a crucial impact on how Anscheinis perceiving rhythm in his music, which leads to a very organic and natural sound even though these sounds are created via a digital output source. If we consider rhythm as the backbone of music, we could imply the concept of melodies as the soul of music. In further short- and midterm projects Anscheinalso got the chance to gain insights within this field of music through collaborations as a base- and acoustic guitar player. The range of categories is varying from singer songwriter acts to psychedelic indietronic. Slowly but surely he implemented more and more electronical elements which all leads to his current type of music. Artistic statement All these insights into the world of live music are valuable resources for unbiased and open minded approaches towards several kinds and directions of music. So what is unique about Anschein? It´s not like there are heaps of other live musicians in the electronic area of music, but one thing that distinguishes Anscheinis his new definition of borders, hence human beings tend to perceive things easier when they can categorize it. As Bjarke Svendsen, the CEO of the Jazzhouse Copenhagen once said in an interview in the Vice magazine: “What’s fantastic about music is how it evolved. It has an openness and willingness to challenge the established structures built into it. To me, that openness totry to challenge tradition is more jazz than anything. If you translate that into one word, it would be‘curiosity”. |
