Curanderos
In 1999, three young students attending the same school in Cologne, Germany founded the band Curanderos, united by their love for Guns ‘n’ Roses and rock music.

Alvaro (guitar, vocals), born in Uruguay, Diego (bass, vocals), half Mexican, half German and Lukas (drums), from Cologne, came up with the band name Curanderos, and drew up a set of cover and self-written songs, with “Malandro” (South American slang for gangster), being their very first own and also the opening song at the GBOB festival.
The song deals with Latin American gangs, a topic that Diego and Alvaro see from a very different view since living in Germany which faces them with their own descent and origins.
And even though this sounds dead serious, they take the subject with a pinch of salt.
George du Bose, a former photographer of The Ramones, noticed the band at a gig in 2003 and, convinced of their performance and attitude, he instantly offered to take pictures of them.
Curandero’s first EP was recorded and produced by Florian Bechte at HighCatRecords studios in 2006.
2007 the band took part at the GBOB music contest and prevailed against 112 national acts.
Since them, they where recording again with Florian Bechte.
