What started out as a neighborhood festival in a working-class neighbourhood, has grown out to be a three day event of international stature. As all bluegrass enthusiasts know, the Rotterdam Bluegrass Festival is one of the leading bluegrass festivals in Europe.

Bluegrass is American folk music. It is the music of Irish and Scottish immigrants in the mountain regions of the eastern United States, with strong influences from jazz and blues. Stirring rhythms, vocal harmonies, banjo, violin and double bass - these are some basic ingredients of a reviving musical style.

On june 23, 24 and 25 a great number of international top artists perform on the intimate Pijnackerplein. Yet our festival remains an authentic neighborhood festival as well. We bring folk music to a working-class neighbourhood. Everyone comes together, the atmosphere is very laid back. We charge no entrance fee; we stay true to the bluegrass spirit!
