The Dynamics is a friend story, passionate about Jamaican Dub & Soul and all kinds of good music. They started out around 2004 as party act, playing groovy covers in their own soulful reggae dub style, nicing up private parties and small clubs, with a simple sound system, live dub fx and three singers.
When their first singles "Move On Up" and "Seven Nation Army" became huge underground hits with DJs and Reggae-, Soul- and Funkheads worldwide, live bass and drums were added, so the Dynamics became a full scale band. Debut album "Version Excursions" (Groove Attack, 2007) became a massive success and led to heavy touring for the next few years. Their second album "180,000 Miles And Counting" (Big Single, 2011) featured mainly original material as well as a few covers like Lou Reed's "Walk On The Wild Side". On their following tours, the Dynamics proved to be fantastic live band. Anyone who was lucky enough to catch their last Cologne show at Studio 672 in 2012, will remember that sweaty night.
After a few quieter years, The Dynamics, armed with new tunes, now return to the live scene. Their appearance at Freedom Sounds Festival 2017 is the first chance to hear this great outfit live in Germany again in a long time.

THE DYNAMICS are:

- Mr Day (lead vocal & guitar): Godfather of the Lyon musical scene, he is today one of the most respected French deep house and soul singers. Influenced by Smokey Robinson or Curtis Mayfield, he is a real asset within the vocal trio. He worked with various labels (Rotax/FR, Glasgow Underground/UK, Guidance/US, Acid Jazz/UK, Favorite/Big Single/FR). He released a splendid album, "Small Fry" in 2010 on Favorite Recordings.

- Mounam (lead vocal): Originally from Cameroon, Mounam is an eclectic singer with a blues and gospel voice. The female key in the trio. Since 1992, she has evolved in the international scene in different Afro-American style groups and has been a session singer or member with Zora Young (US), Metroplolitan Jazz Affair, Colorblind, Mr. President, Nu Tropic (FR), or Slovo (UK) and Quasimode (JAP). She released the single "What needs Mama" in collaboration with the funk band Trevor & LISA in 2010 on Favorite Recordings.

- Stevie Levi (lead vocal): Originally from Bristol (UK), and largely accustomed to British soundsystems, Stevie settled in Lyon to join The Dynamics. Influenced as much by Horace Andy as Marvin Gaye and Ken Boothe, he is a true songwriter, oscillating between the crooner and the entertainer (often compared with U-Roy) styles. On stage, Stevie shows a rare sincerity and energy.

- Mr Flab Masta (machines, guitar & effects): Originally from Boston, he describes himself as a musical hobo. From his experience of sound engineering, experimentation, and 12 years globetrotting, he brings a wide range of influences, (Os Mutantes, King Tubby, Stereolab, Pink Floyd) as well as his collection of vintage equipment to the timeless Dynamic Sound.

- Raphael Vallade (bass): Active on the Lyon musical scene for many years, he officiates as well into the Funk scene within bands such as SFONX, into Rock'n'Roll with GOLDEN ZIP and even into Jazz dimensions with BIGRE! His experimentation and influences lock his love of groove to the DYNAMICS.

- Remy Kaprielan (drums): Valence-born, moving to Lyon in 1996 to launch his musical adventure, he started with bands such as KHABAN", Natty Bass, NEO or SOOM SEGBO.... Now drummer for Mr. Day, Belle de Berry & David Lewis, CHK or Poppy Grass.... he is, with Raph Vallade, the new breathing lungs of the live group, distilling a potent solid groove!!!
